Why AirPods Won't Connect to Sony TV? Troubleshooting Tips
You'll need to perform some troubleshooting if, even after taking the right procedures, you're still experiencing problems pairing your AirPods with your Sony TV.
Make sure your TV supports Bluetooth
Modern Sony smart TVs are all Bluetooth-enabled. Some older versions, nevertheless, are unable to pair with any device over Bluetooth.
Therefore, you won't be able to connect your AirPods if your TV lacks the A2DP (Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Bluetooth profile.
Navigating to Settings > Display & Sound > Audio Output and searching for the A/V option will allow you to check for it.
Check if your TV supports Bluetooth
Determine the model of Sony TV you own, then look up the specs online to determine if Bluetooth is supported. If not, you may still use a Bluetooth transmitter to pair your AirPods with your Sony TV.
It connects to the headphone jack on your TV and sends audio to other devices. Although it's not as nice as having a direct connection, it's still a viable backup choice.
Ensure your AirPods are in pairing mode
If your AirPods are not in pairing mode, they will not be able to pair with your Sony TV. Ensure that you hold the necessary button until the light turns white while pairing them.
Update the Sony TV to the latest firmware
Sometimes your Sony televisions need firmware updates to make them compatible with Apple Devices.
There may be a notification in the top-right corner of your home screen on some Sony devices informing you when an update is ready. Click it to view the URL where you may download your software update and then select "Details."
Update the Sony TV to the latest firmware
Your AirPods Pro will then connect to the television as soon as you get your update, letting you watch your content.
Charge your AirPods
Your AirPods may not have enough power to connect to your Sony TV if their battery is too low. It can also be necessary to charge the charging case. Simply insert the charging cable that came with your AirPods into the available port.
Remove other Bluetooth devices from your TV
Your Sony TV might not be able to sync with your AirPods if it is coupled with other devices. Take out any other Bluetooth devices that are connected to your Sony TV before following the instructions to pair your AirPods with it.
Ensure that you connect with your own AirPods when living with others, not your partner's or roommate's!
The “can't connect AirPods to Sony TV” error occasionally happens as a result of firmware updates required for Sony televisions to be Apple device-compatible.
AirPods will also fail to connect to a device properly if they don’t have enough charge on them. So, ensure your AirPods have enough juice to establish a connection.
You’ll need to grab your iPhone for a minute and pair your AirPods to it to change the volume on your AirPods. Go to “Settings" and then "Bluetooth” to find your AirPods. Touch the little i icon by your AirPods.
On the left or right AirPod, double-tap and select Siri. On the other side, repeat the same actions. You may ask Siri to increase the volume once you've done that. Finally, you can pair your AirPods with the Sony television and unpair your iPhone.
Conclusion
You can wirelessly connect your headphones to many devices, like your phone, computer, smart speaker, fitness tracker, or tablet. And now you know how to connect AirPods to Sony TV. From now on, you can get back to watching that season finale you’ve been looking forward to–in peace.

Hm. Strange. Try turning off BT in the settings on the TV, then turning it back on and trying again. Also check your AV sync setting (possibly turning it off and on again as well)
There's no reason that I can see why it shouldn't work. The tv will send SBC by audio which is supported by the airpods.
