WhatsApp Spotted Developing QR Codes to Make Channels Easier to Join

WhatsApp is developing a new feature for Channels to improve user experience and make channels simpler to discover. 

The instant messaging app is working on QR codes for channels, which will allow users to scan and join a channel.

WABetaInfo discovered the unreleased functionality in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.22.20, although it has yet to be available to beta testers. 

Instead of providing a link via message, anybody may scan the QR code to learn more about a channel.

WhatsApp is no stranger to QR codes, which are used extensively across the service. 

It already enables users to share their accounts using QR codes, and they may sign in to WhatsApp Web simply by scanning the QR code shown on their desktop.

The alternate sharing technique can provide additional opportunities for channel admins looking to boost channel traction. 

For example, WhatsApp channel QR codes may be posted at events and meetups so that many guests can instantly access and follow the channel by scanning them with their phones.

While QR codes for channels are scheduled for future release, the instant messaging platform is also working on additional features.

According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a channel analytics section for Android and iOS to provide admins with greater insights into user engagement.
