Free Rides Available For Super Bowl Events Via QR Code
In order to encourage visitors to downtown Phoenix to attend Super Bowl celebrations, Valley Metro is providing free rides on the light rail.
Anyone who gets the NFL OnePass app will be able to ride the light rail for free in the days running up to the Super Bowl on February 12 according to the public transit system.

After installing the app, users must additionally obtain a QR code from the NFL OnePass app's "rewards" section.
The following Super Bowl events are covered by this QR Code as a valid light rail fare:
-
Super Bowl Experience at the Phoenix Convention Center, Feb. 4 – 5 and 9 – 11.
-
Super Bowl Experience at Hance Park, Feb. 9 – 12.
If a Valley Metro fare inspector requests to see the QR code, you must provide so. One adult passenger or a family taking a joint trip is eligible to use the QR code.
A light rail fare can also be used with tickets for upcoming Super Bowl events at Footprint Center.
The Valley Metro light rail line runs from Gilbert Road in Mesa to Dunlap Avenue in Phoenix. The route travels past Chase Field in Phoenix's downtown, the ASU Tempe campus, as well as Mesa's downtown.
According to Phoenix Councilmember and Valley Metro RPTA Board Chair Laura Pastor, "In 2015, we smashed all ridership records on the light rail system, serving 126,000 on Super Bowl Saturday."
“For our numerous residents and visitors, many of whom are traveling to the Valley for the first time, this program will make transit that much more handy and simple to use,” he added.
