Possible Danger of Using AirPods While Driving

Driving a car requires a great deal of attention to detail, including listening to the noises of the traffic and being aware of your surroundings.

So if you're using earphones or headphones like the AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, you won't be able to hear traffic sounds or be aware of what's going on.

Because AirPods' noise cancellation technology prevents you from hearing or hearing outside traffic, you should avoid using them in the first place.

      You can, yes.
But there is a reason cars aren't completely soundproofed from the outside. If you cannot hear what's going on around you you are not in a safe state to drive, that includes anything from overly loud music to loud exhaust or even talking too loud.

It is as safe as wearing non-sound isolating headphones while driving. Which in most states is illegal to do in two ears at once. That means it is probably not safe. Or in fact definitely not safe if safe includes “no ticket”.
One ear in many states is considered safe as they encourage Bluetooth headsets.

Of they should be. I was actually amazed just now when I looked up and found that only 15 states outlaw driving with any sort of headset. Of course, that doesn’t mean distracted driving laws still wouldn’t apply

Absolutely. It makes it far easier to answer calls and respond to messages and issue other commands via Siri.
Just make sure that you’re aware of the laws specific to your locality regarding the use of headphones while driving. In some places it’s allowed to wear both, in others you can only wear one, and in some you can’t wear anything in your ears while driving.
