Users may now effortlessly share their profiles with QR codes with others using the upgraded Mastodon official app for Android.

As per the company's blog post, this may help exchange profiles in loud places like hotel lobbies and events.

Go to the profile tab, hit the QR symbol next to your name, and you'll receive a code that others can scan. This is how people share the QR code.

Additionally, the company is working to simplify the fediverse for users. In order to do this, it has now included domain name explainers in Mastodon handles.

The software displays a window describing the differences between the username and server names when you tap on a handle.

When you press the explanations, the app even shows the name of the server or your login in the handle.

Mastodon has also changed the muting and blocking prompts to explain how those actions affect a profile.

A few other changes have also been made to the new Android, including the addition of clear drop-down menus on profiles and a new link card preview that shows the author and date of posts.

With Bluesky's public launch earlier this month and its ongoing federation efforts, Mastodon now faces fierce competition in the decentralized social network market.

The ActivityPub network's several servers' complex structure has drawn criticism from users experimenting with Mastodon.

The business will need to focus on facilitating people's comprehension and navigation of the decentralized social realm.
