India's UPI Transactions with QR Codes Have Expanded into Nepal
The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) for cross-border transactions between India and Nepal is now operational, according to a statement released by Fonepay Payment Service, Nepal's payment network, and NPCI International Payments (NIPL), the international division of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Following their September announcement at the Global Fintech Fest 2023 in India, both organizations are fully functional and ready to enable person-to-merchant (P2M) UPI transactions between the two nations via QR codes.

Through the use of UPI-enabled apps, Indian customers will be able to quickly, securely, and conveniently make UPI payments across numerous business stores in Nepal during the initial phase of this partnership.
Indian customers may easily accept UPI payments from merchants that have been acquired by the Fonepay Network's participating members.
The close relationship that exists between India and Nepal is strengthened by this digital connection.
A new age of efficiency and ease in cross-border transactions between inhabitants of both nations is ushered in by the integration of payment systems by NIPL and Fonepay.
