With the introduction of the WF-1000XM4 earphones, Sony introduced a new rival to the market for genuine wireless earphones.

The goal of the earbuds is to surpass the best offerings from Bose, which has had considerable success in the market with its QuietComfort Earbuds.

To make the right choice of which earbuds are worth your money, let’s go through our comprehensive comparison between these two earphones!

Price

In general, the Bose QuietComfort earbuds are a bit cheaper than the Sony WF-1000XM4.

Design

The Bose QuietComfort and the Sony WF-1000XM4 have significantly dissimilar designs.

Sony's earbuds are more compact than their predecessors, featuring rounded housings and a thin charging case that can be charged wirelessly or using a USB-C port.

Some polyurethane ear tips are included in the package, which should enable you to acquire a good fit and seal against your ear canal to aid in passive noise cancellation.

Compared to the Sony WF-1000XM4, the Bose earbuds are bulkier due to their big, ovaloid housings and stabilizer fins, which are intended to keep the buds firmly in place.

A variety of cone-shaped ear tips (with fins connected) are included with them.

In comparison to the Sony WF-1000XM4, the Bose charging case is heavier, but it also allows for USB-C or wireless charging mat operation.

Audio Quality

Each of these best earbuds produces a consumer-friendly sound that most people will love, even though the frequency response is unlikely to be some sort of audiophile endgame.

With the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, sub-bass notes are about twice as loud as low-midrange sounds and treble notes are even louder than midrange notes.

This boost adds just enough vigor to songs without sacrificing instrumental detail, so most people will find it enjoyable.

Similar to Bose earphones, the Sony WF-1000XM4 provides a significant boost in the lower frequencies where bass notes live.

Nevertheless, the Sony earphones reduce high-frequency noises, in contrast to the Bose earbuds.

Certain materials may become unclear as a consequence of this underemphasis.

Noise Cancellation

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds deliver superior noise cancellation.

High levels of passive noise cancellation can be achieved simply by putting the earbuds in your ears.

However, if you turn the ANC up to level 10, almost all sounds other than high-frequency ones will be blocked out.

Not that the Sony WF-1000XM4 aren't excellent at isolating outside noise—they rank among the top noise-cancelling earbuds for a reason.

By using geolocation access, the WF-1000XM4 may determine your position.

With your consent, adjust the ambient sound passthrough or noise cancellation to your desired level based on that location.

Similar to Bose earbuds, Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones feature a transparency mode known as Ambient Sound Control.

Battery Life

While neither the Sony nor the Bose earbuds have the longest battery life in their respective classes, the Sony WF-1000XM4 does have a marginally longer listening duration.

Based on whether active noise cancellation is turned on or off, the Sony earbuds may be used for 8 to 12 hours of listening.

The case can also hold 2 more charges.

In the meantime, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds can be used for 6 hours of playback directly from the buds and an additional 12 hours when charging the case.

Controls

The inbuilt capacitive touch controls on both pairs of earphones allow you to control calls and music playback.

Each's mobile app allows for customization of the controls as well.

While both are functional, it seems that the Sony touch controls are slightly more adjustable and user-friendly than the Bose touch controls.

In addition, they look better and are more compact and portable.

Because they charge more quickly and have a longer battery life, most people's lives will be easily integrated with the Sony earphones.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is the Sony WF 1000XM4 comfortable?
The Sony WF-1000XM4 Truly Wireless is comfortable to wear. Three sizes of ear tips made of polyurethane foam are included, which conform to the curve of your ear. Even an ear tip fit test is included in the Sony Headphones Connect app to help you obtain the perfect fit.
Why are Bose earphones so expensive?
Bose is dedicated to providing the greatest audio technology and develops high-end audio systems. Prices are expensive because it produces high-end headphones and makes significant R&D investments. The brand name of the product also contributes to its higher pricing.

Conclusion

Both earbuds share a lot of similarities, however, the WF-1000XM4 basically improves on the XM3's functionality, albeit at a higher price

Bose QC buds or Sony WF-1000xm4 buds? I’m looking to purchase the best ear buds on the market right now. Was originally looking at headphones but decided that wouldn’t work as I want to get into the gym more. Also open to other buds. I am currently using an iPhone. I would also listen to recommendations about over ear headphones with good sweat resistance

I’m a Bose fan and enjoyed the sound and noise cancelling of the QC earbuds however they have too many flaws and a huge case. Sony XM4s are very nice but not the comfortable for all people

Haven’t tried the sonys, but compared to the AirPods pro the bose QC buds are insanely good, comfortable fit with extremely clear sound quality, I haven’t had any big issues with them, and the size doesn’t bother me at all
