What to Consider when Buying Best Smartwatch for Swimming?
A waterproof smart watch for swimming can record everything you do in the water and most of them allow you to view data while you swim, such as how far you've gone.
These devices also come with more features that might improve their suitability for particular swimming scenarios.
The following are the main factors to take into account when purchasing a waterproof fitness tracker.
How to buy a smart watch for swimming?
Waterproof rating
Whether the swimming smart watch is waterproof is arguably the most crucial feature to consider.
You should ideally look for something having a 5 ATM rating—which indicates it can be safely immersed in water up to 50 meters.
That ought to cover most indoor and outdoor swimming scenarios as well.
While it's overkill for everyday swimming, some trackers with 10 ATM ratings allow you to submerge them up to 100 meters.
These are helpful if you want to wear them while participating in high-speed water sports.
Waterproof rating is crucial to find the best watches for swimming
Pool or open-water swimming
If you just intend to use the smart watch swimming at the local pool, don't spend more money than necessary.
Although this is starting to show up in less expensive choices, open-water swimming support is often more costly.
Pool swim modes assess your distance traveled using sophisticated algorithms and accelerometer motion sensors.
Since your watch won't be able to sustain a satellite signal in the water, heading outdoors requires GPS and an even more advanced algorithm to monitor your whereabouts.
Where do you intend to swim?
Screen type
It's one thing trying to read a screen in bright outside light, but some trackers are better than others at handling the task of swiftly reviewing real-time metrics while in the water.
Certain models allow you to adjust the screen brightness or reverse the colors to enhance visibility if you're having trouble seeing the data while you're moving.
You may further protect your smartwatchfrom water damage by using a waterproof screen protector, all of which won't interfere with your ability to use the watch's sensors, controls, or other features.
Underwater heart rate
Can your swimming watch monitor heart rate?
Although heart rate is a useful indicator of effort, not all swimming smart watches will provide very precise readings.
That is a result of the wrist-based heart rate monitors' technical constraints.
Select a tracker that can link to a waterproof chest strap heart rate monitor if the heart rate is important to you.
Syncing to other apps
Every tracker has a specific app where, following a swim, your data is delivered.
A lot of them also provide you the ability to connect the tracker to other swim training platforms and apps.
It may give you access to extra training features and frequently simplify the process of analyzing your sessions.
Your smart watch swim tracker should be able to sync to other apps
Battery life
Although it's improbable that you can swim longer than a full charge in a pool, a longer life might be useful if you intend to swim outside a lot and need to use the GPS.
Price
Cost is something you should carefully consider before purchasing any best smart watch.
If your budget is less than £100, you may get basic swim metrics, including stroke counts, distance swum, and average pace (suggested Xiaomi Band 7 Pro).
Casual swimmers will find this kind of swim proof smart watch to be perfect.

I'm thinking of getting myself a smartwatch that I can use in the pool. I'm by no means an athelete and only practice indoors. All I want of the watch is a) can track my vitals in pool b) can help me with heartrate zone training, sending alerts when I deviate from the designated band c) can hold music on its own d) hopefully within decent price range(~350usd).
I have never bought the 'real' workout watch, only had Galaxy Watch 4 and I absolutely detest it. I'd appreciate ANY input at all.

I've been pretty happy with my Coros Pace 2. It's very light, but has some trouble with tracking the distance. It accurately tracks my laps for timed swims, but not for swims by distance.

I started to swim a few weeks ago so I'll compete in the future and for my own body's health. I'm 27 years old. I was wondering which watch would you recommend? an important thing is to have the ability to see the heartbeat.

I love my fenix 6. For the most part the heartrate is accurate, but like any biometric measure there are problems with artifact. I also run and cycle so the fenix 6 fits me best.
